The Landing - FAQs
What is The Landing?
The Landing is a Christ-centered recovery group for teens and a branch of Celebrate Recovery. It is a safe, supportive place where teens can learn how to face life’s hurts in healthy ways instead of escaping them, all through a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
Who is The Landing for?
The Landing is for teens who are dealing with life’s hurts, habits, or hang-ups. These struggles may include emotional pain, unhealthy coping patterns, addiction-related behaviors, or distorted ways of thinking. Teens do not need to have everything figured out to attend — just a willingness to show up.
What should to expect at a meeting?
Each meeting includes:
- Fellowship time
- Snacks and activities
- Worship
- A biblical lesson
- Gender-specific small groups where teens can share and reflect in a safe space
What kinds of struggles does The Landing address?
We focus on three main areas:
- Hurts – Pain from experiences such as bullying, abuse, neglect, betrayal, abandonment, or other emotional wounds.
- Habits – Unhealthy patterns used to cope or escape stress, such as drugs, alcohol, food, gambling, anger, sex, self-harm, and more.
- Hang-Ups – Patterns of unhealthy thinking or distorted beliefs about God, ourselves, others, or life circumstances.
How is The Landing different from Celebrate Recovery?
The Landing uses the same biblical foundation as Celebrate Recovery, but is designed specifically for teens. Teaching, discussions, and activities are age-appropriate and geared toward helping teens process their struggles in a safe, supportive environment with peers.
Is this a 12-step program?
Yes. The Landing follows the 12 Steps paired with the 8 Recovery Principles, which are based on the Beatitudes found in the Bible. These principles help teens learn practical, biblical tools for healing and growth.
Is The Landing counseling?
No. The Landing is not professional counseling or therapy. Our facilitators are not licensed counselors, but they are trained through Celebrate Recovery and have personally completed a Celebrate Recovery Step Study. They lead from lived experience and biblical truth, offering guidance, support, and accountability in a Christ-centered community.
If a teen needs professional counseling or additional support, we encourage families to seek help from qualified professionals alongside participation in The Landing.

Is The Landing a safe place for teens?
Yes. The Landing is designed to be a safe, confidential, and supportive environment where teens can be honest about their struggles and grow without judgment.
Do parents attend with their teens?
Parents are encouraged to come with their teen, especially for the first visit. Celebrate Recovery for adults meets at the same time and in the same building, while teens attend The Landing in a separate room designed specifically for them. This allows parents to participate in their own Celebrate Recovery meeting while their teen is supported in a Christ-centered, age-appropriate environment.
What if my teen is unsure about coming?
That’s completely normal. Teens are welcome to participate at their own comfort level. There is no pressure to share until they are ready.
